A great film for fashion photographers

This weekend I went to see Mademoiselle C at Sundance with my friend (and fantastic retouch artist), Pratik. I love documentaries on the fashion industry. I was quite excited to see this film, as I'm quite a fan of CR Fashion Book. 

The film is a behind the scenes look of the creation of the first issue of CR Fashion book (which released in fall of 2012). CR Fashion Book was created by Carine Roitfeld, known as the editor-in-chief of French Vogue for 10 years. The film follows her in the process of creating this new and fresh fashion magazine. What makes it a fantastic watch for photographers, is that the meat of the film is a behind the scenes look at most of the editorials that appear in the first issue. This includes my two favorite editorials of that issue, one shot by Tom Ford, called Lucho and Juliet, and another by Sebastian Faena called A Woman's Life. These are editorials that truly inspired me, and seeing them be shot was even more inspiring.

The film rounds out well with Carine telling a bit of her own story and inspirations. There are a few cute and comedic moments with Karl Lagerfeld as well.

All in all, it's a great flick for any photographer working or aspiring to work in the fashion industry.
